Job Scope

An employee in this class performs skilled electrical work in the installation, alteration, repair, and maintenance of electrical equipment and wiring used in communication, light, and power systems. Assignments, supervision, and review are received from Building Maintenance Supervisor.

The syllabus prescribed by the D.G.E.&T., New Delhi will be covered. The syllabus of training is:

3. Engineering Drawing
4. Workshop Calculation & Science
5. Social Study / Employability Skills







Duties

Electricians typically do the following:

  1. Read blueprints or technical diagrams
  2. Install and maintain wiring, control, and lighting systems
  3. Inspect electrical components, such as transformers and circuit breakers
  4. Identify electrical problems with a variety of testing devices
  5. Repair or replace wiring, equipment, or fixtures using hand tools and power tools
  6. Follow state and local building regulations based on the National Electric Code
  7. Direct and train workers to install, maintain, or repair electrical wiring or equipment
